Trusted Data Sources

Water Quality is powered by an internal database compiled from official water brand mineral analyses, laboratory certifications, and European water quality standards. Each brand's mineral profile is sourced directly from manufacturer-published composition data and cross-referenced with independent laboratory results where available.

Safety thresholds and quality benchmarks are derived from guidelines established by the World Health Organization (WHO), the European Union Drinking Water Directive, and national food safety authorities. Baby formula safety criteria follow pediatric nutrition guidelines from ESPGHAN.

Quality Grade System

How Water Quality calculates a comprehensive safety grade for each brand.

A

Excellent — Optimal mineral balance, pH within ideal range (6.5–8.5), very low sodium. Suitable for all consumers including infants.

B

Good — Strong mineral profile with minor imbalances. pH within acceptable range. A reliable choice for daily hydration.

C

Moderate — Acceptable composition with some elevated or deficient minerals. pH may be slightly outside optimal range.

D

Poor — Significant mineral imbalances, elevated sodium or fluoride, or pH outside recommended range. Not ideal for regular use.

E

Avoid — Fails multiple quality criteria. Extremely high sodium, mineral imbalances, or pH well outside safe range. Not recommended.

The grade is calculated from a weighted formula evaluating mineral balance across all eight tracked minerals, pH range adherence, sodium concentration relative to dietary guidelines, fluoride levels, and overall suitability for sensitive populations including infants.
